Reaffirming its commitment to the well-being, social cohesion, and integral development of the communities in its area of influence, Drummond Ltd. delivered the new community hall in the town of Arenas Blancas, jurisdiction of the municipality of Chiriguaná, Cesar.
“This community hall is part of Drummond Ltd.’s social investment strategy, through which we seek to strengthen community infrastructure and promote spaces for participation, dialogue, and citizen engagement. “With initiatives like this, we continue to support community leadership and improve the quality of life in our communities,” commented Yilda Pineda García, Senior Supervisor of Community and Government Relations at Drummond Ltd.
This project, developed in agreement with the Municipal Government of Chiriguaná, included the construction of a 180 m² community hall, which includes an administrative office, sanitary facilities, and a stage for events. The space was also furnished with furniture and equipment, including air conditioners, guest chairs, folding tables, a mobile board, additional tables, and a rechargeable megaphone; as well as a wardrobe, a desk and office chairs.
“I want to express my gratitude to the Drummond company, which undoubtedly brings social investment projects to the territory, such as the construction of this community hall for the benefit of this community,” said Juan Carlos García Mejía, mayor of Chiriguaná.
The Arenas Blancas community hall offers a meeting point for cultural and educational activities, community action board meetings, workshops, and events that promote collective development and strengthen the local social fabric. This investment adds to other actions with a positive impact by the mining company in the region, such as infrastructure projects in education and health, which have benefited thousands of families in the department of Cesar.
Hernando Terán Moreno, president of the community action board of the Arenas Blancas town center, also expressed his gratitude: “Thanks to Drummond for this beautiful project that impacts the socio-economic development of our community, a space we have wanted for many years and today is a reality.”
