La Loma, January 27, 2026

Drummond Ltd., in partnership with the United Way Colombia Foundation, developed the “Pre Saber 11 with Drummond” project, an initiative aimed at strengthening the quality of education and improving the academic performance of 11th grade students from 15 official institutions in the municipalities of Agustín Codazzi, Becerril, El Paso (La Loma), La Jagua de Ibirico, Chiriguaná and Bosconia, in the department of Cesar.
The project involved more than 1,000 students and strengthened the teaching skills of more than 100 teachers.
“Thanks to the implementation of the project, operated by United Way Colombia in coordination with Universidad de la Costa, the municipalities of the Cesar mining corridor showed sustained academic progress in the results of the Saber 11 Tests of 2025. “Among the main results, increases in the Satisfactory and Advanced levels stood out in areas such as Critical Reading, Mathematics and Natural Sciences,” commented Amalí Blanco Bohórquez, coordinator of corporate social responsibility projects at Drummond Ltd.

The project also strengthened students’ confidence in the Saber test and promoted more focused and effective teaching practices, supported by pedagogical analysis of results, technical support, and evidencebased decision-making. Although simulations were applied in all areas, these instruments were primarily intended to identify trends, map academic performance, and guide pedagogical processes, rather than measure direct impacts in non-priority areas.
As for the teachers, the project made it possible to consolidate gamification and active learning strategies, establish institutional criteria for the use of the results of the simulations in pedagogical planning and define corrective actions in areas such as Critical Reading and Natural Sciences, linking the school guidance teams.
As a result of the academic support process, several participating educational institutions obtained outstanding scores in the 2025 Saber 11 Tests, such as the Eloy Quintero A. Educational Institution, in Bosconia, with a score of 453; the Benito Ramos Educational Institution, in El Paso, with 385 points and the Francisco de Paula Santander Educational Institution, in Agustín Codazzi, with 366 points, among others.
The development of the project confirmed that the articulation between educational institutions, strategic partners and technical teams allows the transformation of academic results into concrete actions within the classroom, promoting equity and educational quality from the territory. With outstanding results, its positive impact on students’ academic performance is evident.
Increases in the overall score were achieved, with comprehensive improvements in all five areas evaluated, which reaffirms the effectiveness of the pedagogical support and the commitment to educational quality and opportunities for young people in the territory.
Through these types of initiatives, Drummond Ltd. and United Way Colombia reaffirmed their commitment to improving education in the country by implementing solutions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): number 4 (Quality Education), number 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and number 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), contributing to the strengthening of the education system and the integral development of the communities of Cesar.
