Drummond Ltd. officially delivered a joint project with the Mayor of Bosconia to remodel the infrastructure and furnish the Nuestra Señora del Carmen School in Loma Colorada, Cesar. The goal is to improve access to quality education by providing suitable learning spaces for children and young people in its area of influence.

“Improving the learning environment has a direct and positive impact on academic results. At Drummond, we continue to strengthen institutional and community capacity in the municipalities in the area of influence under our pillars of Governance for Development and Comprehensive Development,” said Yilda Tatiana Pineda, Community Relations Coordinator at Drummond Ltd.

The company invested more than 188 million pesos in the work, which included a general refurbishment of the school, donations of furniture for the administrative area, classrooms, and the cafeteria, and the donation of sports equipment.

“I want to say how happy I am to recognize the support Drummond has always provided to these towns in the mining corridor, not only by making significant contributions in terms of refurbishing infrastructure, but also with assistance such as the scholarship program, training events, and social support in general,” expressed Gaspar Mena, director of the area of the municipal seat in Bosconia.

This project will benefit 280 people including students, teachers, and parents. The goal is to create optimum conditions for educational activities in order to increase education’s coverage in this town, contributing to stronger schooling in this community.

“We would like to thank Drummond and the office of the Mayor for the donation made to our school. We are all extremely happy – teachers, administrators, and students – because we have new and very important resources that will improve the quality of our education and make our classrooms more comfortable. Even if we had saved for 10 years we would have never been able to do something like this,” stated in gratitude Verenice Villareal, director of the Nuestra Señora del Carmen School.

For Drummond the well-being of the communities in its area of influence is a priority, and that is why it is committed to the region’s sustainable development through significant contributions to the educational sector.
