As part of its commitment to productive diversification and strengthening the local economy, Drummond Ltd. celebrates the export of 50 tons of premium cocoa from Cesar to the United Kingdom, a milestone achieved by the Perijá Cocoa Growers Association (Asocope).
This achievement represents the result of a process of several years in which Drummond Ltd., in alliance with Socodevi and the Canadian Embassy in Colombia, has accompanied Asocope in the consolidation of its productive, organizational and commercial capacities. Press Release Thanks to this support, the association has been able to guarantee quality standards in fermentation, drying and traceability, which has awoken the interest of international businessmen in markets such as the United Kingdom, Japan, the United States and the Netherlands.

“Drummond Ltd. expresses its deep satisfaction with the results achieved by the cocoa growing families linked to
Asocope in the municipality of Agustín Codazzi. Seeing how this project has contributed to strengthening productive capacities and generating sustainable opportunities for cocoa growing families reaffirms the company’s strategic vision through its Social Investment Plan. We congratulate Asocope for its leadership and achievements, and celebrate this progress as a shared result of collective effort,” said Amalí Blanco Bohórquez, corporate social responsibility project coordinator for Drummond Ltd.
The export process began with a first negotiation for 16 tons under the Ex Works modality (warehouse purchase) and, after the excellent reception of the product in the United Kingdom, a new commercial agreement was reached for 200 tons, with monthly shipments of 25 tons. By August 2025, 50 tons of high quality cocoa with low cadmium content, fermentation between 70% and 80% and a drying rate of 7% have already been shipped.
The economic impact of this accompaniment is significant. Through August 2025 alone, Asocope hs marketed more than 200,000 kilos of cocoa, of which 91,516 kilos were destined for international markets, generating revenues of more than 2.8 billion pesos, and more than 100,000 kilos were marketed in the domestic market at differential prices.
“This is an achievement not only for the municipality, but for the entire region. And thanks to the support we have received from Drummond, the Canadian Embassy and Socodevi, we have achieved all the growth we have had since we started marketing. The support has not only been in infrastructure and strengthening, but also economic support,” thanked Liliana Angulo, Asocope’s legal representative.
Since its inception, Drummond Ltd. has been present in the most important stages of strengthening Asocope: from technical assistance, crop rehabilitation and the construction of processing plants in strategic areas of the Serranía del Perijá, to training in quality processes, the promotion of women’s leadership and the adaptation of warehouses for storage and marketing.
