As part of its commitment to sustainable development and the strengthening of the education sector in the areas of influence of its operation, Drummond Ltd. officially delivered the project to improve the Escuela Nueva campus, belonging to the San Isidro Agro-Environmental Educational Institution, located in the village of Manizales Bajo in the municipality of La Jagua de Ibirico.
The project, carried out in coordination with the municipal administration and the local educational community, included the construction of a sanitary battery, as well as the comprehensive improvement of two classrooms and the kitchen-dining area. These works were carried out under the guidelines of Colombian Technical Standard 4595 of the Ministry of National Education, with the purpose of guaranteeing dignified and safe conditions for learning.
“We continue to contribute to quality education in the municipalities of the area of influence. Today we are delivering the improvement of the educational infrastructure of the school in the village of Manizales Bajo,” said Yilda Pineda García, senior supervisor of community relations and government at Drummond Ltd.
The investment responds to the company’s social strategy, which seeks to generate positive and sustainable impacts on the quality of life of rural communities through agreed projects.
“Today, Drummond makes the dream of many students here in the village of Manizales Bajo possible. We are very grateful for everything that this company has been doing in the social scope and, above all, in the educational sector, making it truly what we call it, a good neighbor,” said Leonardo Hernández Cataño, mayor of La Jagua de Ibirico.
Thanks to these improvements, the educational community will have more suitable environments for the development of its teaching processes, thus strengthening the conditions for quality rural education.
“I am grateful to Drummond for what it did, with the great work, because before we did not have the comforts we do now,” said Dailys Mogollón Rojas, a student at the institution.
Teacher Thailand Palencia Ayala also added: “I am very grateful first of all to God and I would like to thank Drummond for their contribution to this project that is for the children, for the well-being of education. We always carry it in our hearts, both the children and the teachers who work in this institution.”
