Within the framework of its Social Investment Plan, Drummond Ltd. continues to strengthen the capabilities of social leaders in the municipalities in its area of influence, through training processes that promote community development and territorial leadership.

In alliance with the academic offer provided by Universidad Sergio Arboleda, through its Prime Business School, the company has launched complementary training aimed at 60 social leaders, from the municipalities of Fundación, Aracataca, Zona Bananera, Ciénaga, Algarrobo, El Copey, Bosconia, Chiriguaná, La Jagua de Ibirico and El Paso who participated in the ‘Seminar on Design of Community Initiatives’. This new stage of learning is designed to continue the process started with the Diploma in Strategic Management with an Emphasis in Community Education held in 2024.

During the previous course, the participants developed community workshops with a pedagogical approach as a final project, which made it possible to identify topics.
Based on this experience, three key areas of action were defined: environmental management (solid waste management, recycling, water care), entrepreneurship and youth.

Based on these findings, the complementary training seeks to strengthen initiatives that are already underway or in the design stage, offering participants strategic tools such as the CANVAS model, which facilitates the structuring, analysis and projection of community projects.

“Our main objective is to strengthen the capabilities of these community leaders in the formulation and creation of projects that generate a positive impact on their communities,” said Ever Carrillo Navarro, coordinator of social and environmental projects at Drummond Ltd.

The program’s methodology included an initial diagnosis that made it possible to know the progress status of each initiative (ideation, development or consolidation), in order to adapt the contents in a pertinent way. In addition, the high level of participation, leadership and convening capacity of the attendees is highlighted, qualities that ensure a greater territorial impact of the promoted actions.

From the seminar, Bladimir Tejeda Álvarez, community leader from Aracataca, Magdalena highlighted: “Today we take away some knowledge, some learning, some teachings that are going to be of great benefit not only on a personal level, but for our communities.”

With this type of initiative, Drummond Ltd. reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the social fabric, the sustainable development of communities, and the promotion of transformative leadership that contributes to the construction of solutions from and for the territories.
