As part of its commitment to social and educational development in its area of influence, Drummond Ltd., in partnership with the Valledupar Journalists’ Circle (CPV), will award a new scholarship for a journalist from the department of Cesar to pursue a specialization in areas related to communications and journalism, and/or whose subject matter is relevant to communications.
Those interested in participating will have from next Monday, June 30th, until Thursday, July 31st, 2025, to submit the required information, along with the registration application in a sealed envelope, directly to the Drummond offices in Valledupar (Calle 12 No. 8 – 42, Office 303 and 304, Orbe Plaza Building), labelled with “Communications Grant Drummond Ltd.” Likewise, the duly completed documentation can also be sent to the email: comunicacionesdrummond@drummondltd.com.
Journalists interested in applying for the communications scholarship must meet the selection criteria established in the Terms of Reference for the Scholarship program:
- The applicant must send his/her resume.
- The applicant must have been born in the department of Cesar, or demonstrate
that he or she has lived there for more than 10 years. - The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in communications and journalism, and/or whose subject matter is relevant to communications – such as Human Interest (Psychology, Anthropology, and Law), as well as Business Administration and Economics.
- The candidate must be linked to a media outlet or working as a journalist.
- The applicant must demonstrate experience of at least five (5) years.
- The applicant must submit a motivation letter (maximum two pages) outlining their background, personal interests, and desire to further their academic training.
- The applicant must send two academic and/or professional reference letters.
- The applicant must submit physical or digital copies (audio, video, or print) of four journalistic works produced and published within a period of less than one year.
- Once the above requirements have been met and all required documentation submitted, the shortlisted candidates will be called in for an interview, with the participation of a representative from the Valledupar Journalists’ Circle, a representative from the Communications department at Drummond Ltd., and a member of Cesar ́s civil society. If the applicant does not meet all the requirements or does not submit complete documentation and work, the application will not be considered.
- The scholarship will be awarded to applicants who submit the complete documentation, meet all requirements, and earn a grade higher than 4.5 out of 5.
At the closing of the established time period, the proposals received will be evaluated and selected. Finally, participants will be informed of the deadlines for each stage, and the scholarship winner will be announced in a press release.
Winners of previous editions and those who have already received their scholarships include: Carlos Jimenez Saucedo, Humberto Carrillo Mindiola, Arnold Murillo Rincon, Aquiles Hernandez Saurith, Daniela Cardenas Seoanes, Wendy Peralta Cano and Miguel Alguero Montaño. Ludy Ovalle Jácome, winner of the last event, is currently pursuing her specialization studies.
