Further strengthening the quality of education in the region, Drummond Ltd. and the municipal government inaugurated the improvements made to the Manuel Germán Cuello Educational Institution in the Arenas Blancas village, a rural area of the municipality of Chiriguaná, Cesar. These are dignified and safe spaces that will benefit approximately 100 students.
The project, which facilitates the expansion of educational coverage and improves learning conditions for children, included the construction of two classrooms, a multipurpose room, as well as the provision of school furniture and the delivery of fans.

“At Drummond, we have witnessed how education helps transform lives. This time, we worked together to bring dignified spaces to the Arenas Blancas community, spaces that positively transform the environment and the lives of students, supporting them throughout their education,” said Yilda Pineda García, Senior Supervisor of Community and Government Relations in Cesar.
During the presentation event, the mayor of Chiriguaná, Juan Carlos García Mejía, stated: “We are launching this great effort that we, as an administration, have prioritized: education for our municipality”.
Community support was also essential for the execution and delivery of this project. As Marcelino Moreno, a community leader stated, these changes have a positive impact on the progress of his community: “With the multinational corporation, which is our closest neighbor—and I call them that today—we are the adopted children of the multinational, our village of Arenas Blancas, because they never tire of bringing us projects. And now, with the winning team we have—the mayor’s office, Drummond, and the community— we are moving forward.”

Drummond Ltd. also announced the approval of an additional project at the same institution, which will include improvements to three existing classrooms, the library, and the administrative archives. The kitchen, dining room, kiosk, restrooms, and perimeter fencing will also be upgraded for student safety.
Drummond will continue to focus a large part of its social investment on education and on strengthening quality spaces that provide better opportunities to the communities that are part of its areas of influence.
