With the objective of continuing to strengthen the management, attention and prevention of emergencies in its mining operations and to strengthen its safety culture, Drummond Ltd. held the second brigade meeting, with the participation of more than 100 employees and contractors.

“In this second brigade meeting we took full advantage of the knowledge, spaces and resources available to Drummond, so that the brigadiers of the company and contractor companies could interact through practical exercises in ten stations, where a valuable exchange of knowledge and experiences was generated,” said Nelson Diaz Mora, senior supervisor of industrial safety at Drummond Ltd.

During the day, the brigadiers rotated through ten practical training stations, where they strengthened their skills in key areas for emergency response. Activities included maneuvers with hoses, jets and specialized suits, vehicle extrication and extraction techniques, vital signs assessment and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), as well as hazardous materials handling.

They also carried out practical exercises in hemorrhage management, rescue at heights, operation of the Incident Command System, transfer of injured persons, search and rescue in confined spaces, and the proper use of portable fire extinguishers.

“This meeting helped me to strengthen my skills and my training as a brigadier in the company,” said Martín Montero Pitre, a bulldozer operator at Drummond Ltd.

The second meeting was coordinated by ARL Seguros Bolívar, with the support of the companies IRO Fire School Colombia, Sigpe, Vertical, Extinseg and Varichem de Colombia; and was attended by brigadiers from Drummond Ltd. and allied companies such as Proairex, Relianz, CHM Minería, Transportes Montejo, Ethos Energy Group, Aseres, Komatsu, Sevin, Grupo Integral Moraira, Magnex Group, Kal Tire, Tecnofuego, JCM, Indumil, Insuelectric, Giraldo Ramírez Comercializadora, Copetran, Construvicol, Coomultraha, Cosecharte, Tecnoaguas, Villa Loly and Compass Group.

“This type of brigade meetings are extremely important to share knowledge of each of the areas and their processes,” said Talía María Barroso Hernández, operations supervisor at Varichem de Colombia.

With this second meeting, Drummond Ltd. ratifies its commitment to safety, prevention and the integral growth of its employees and contractors, promoting a culture of protection, preparedness and effective response to emergencies.
