Drummond Ltd. conducted a three-day ophthalmological health brigade in the villages of Potrerillo, in the municipality of El Paso, and La Aurora, in the municipality of Chiriguaná, Cesar, benefiting 628 residents with specialized eye care.
The initiative, carried out in partnership with the health departments of both municipalities, the A and C Foundation (as logistics operator), and the 20/20 Vista Foundation (a non-profit organization and the initiative’s technical leader), provided eye exams, specialized ophthalmological consultations, and prescribed treatments, contributing to an improved quality of life for young people, adults, and seniors in these rural communities.
With this initiative, Drummond Ltd. completes three years of providing ophthalmological care to communities in its area of influence, reaching more than 1,800 people in the departments of Cesar and Magdalena.
“Each patient who regains better vision represents a new opportunity to learn, work, spend time with their family, and enjoy their surroundings. That is the true value of these brigades: bringing specialized services to those who need them most and contributing to transforming their quality of life”, said Dr. Juan Pablo, ophthalmologist at the 20/20 Vista Foundation.

During the event, specialists conducted evaluations to detect different visual conditions early, prescribe lenses, and guide patients on the treatments and checkups necessary to preserve their eye health. As part of the process, the beneficiaries also received prescription eyeglasses according to their needs.
“Seeing more clearly again means recovering so many things in life. I am very grateful for this opportunity”, said Patricia Mejía Caballero, a beneficiary of the event.
The brigade also had the support of community volunteers and company employees, who assisted with logistics and provided guidance to attendees, contributing to the development of an organized and community-focused event.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to social sustainability through actions that strengthen access to essential services, promote community well-being, and generate shared value, contributing to the strengthening of our communities”, said Amalí Blanco Bohórquez, Social Responsibility Project Coordinator.
With this initiative, Drummond Ltd. continues to promote access to specialized health services through its Social Investment Plan, reaffirming that working collaboratively with communities and institutions generates well-being and sustainable development.
