In a space for dialogue, institutional collaboration, and joint development of opportunities, Drummond Ltd. welcomed the Governor of Magdalena, Margarita Guerra Zúñiga, and her team to its port operations to further strengthen initiatives that promote social development in the region.
During the visit, the delegation learned firsthand not only about the port operations but also about the positive impact the company generates in the surrounding communities through programs focused on education, institutional strengthening, community development, and social welfare.
José Miguel Linares, president of Drummond Ltd., emphasized the importance of these institutional collaboration forums: “We are very pleased because this has been another opportunity to demonstrate Drummond’s sound operations and practices, both at the mine and here at the port, as well as to explain the significant benefits these projects bring, not only to the country but also to regions such as Magdalena.”
The day included discussions with key areas such as Corporate Social Responsibility, Human Resources, and Community Relations, where initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for the local population, promoting employment, and strengthening community capabilities were shared.
The visit also highlighted how the operation is integrated with the environment, emphasizing actions that promote environmental sustainability and harmonious coexistence with ecosystems, aspects that also directly impact the well-being of nearby communities.
“We witnessed the harmonious coexistence between mining and environmental protection. We observed their lagoon and the abundance of birdwatching it offers, in addition to all the environmental certifications they operate under. Our impression from the Magdalena department is positive; we are familiar with and have seen the entire process they implement to safeguard the environment,” stated Margarita Guerra Zúñiga, Governor of Magdalena.
