Reaffirming its commitment to education and community well-being, Drummond Ltd. delivered a new infrastructure expansion and school furniture project at the Marcos Fidel Sierra Piña Higher Education Center, located in the municipality of El Copey, Cesar.
“This project aimed to provide adequate, safe, and functional spaces that facilitate the learning process, creating an environment conducive to the well-being of students and teachers,” said Yilda Tatiana Pineda García, senior supervisor of community and government relations at Drummond Ltd.
The project included the construction of two new classrooms, fully equipped with classroom furniture, designed to meet the school’s capacity, comfort, and functionality needs.
“We thank Drummond for being a partner to the municipalities of the mining and railroad corridor. This site was abandoned, and thanks to the collaborative effort, it has become a space for our young people to grow professionally,” said Assad César Raish Gámez, mayor of El Copey, Cesar.
It is worth noting that, in February 2025, Drummond Ltd. had already delivered two classrooms and a bathroom to this same school, as part of its social investment strategy aimed at strengthening access to quality education. With this new project, a total of four classrooms have been built, representing a significant expansion of the school’s physical infrastructure and allowing more young people to access educational processes in decent conditions.
The Marcos Fidel Sierra Piña Higher Education Center is advancing professional and technical training in the community thanks to its strategic alliances with the Universidad Popular del Cesar and SENA (National Educational Service). This combined effort establishes it as an academic benchmark in the region and opens up new development opportunities for the municipality’s youth.
Currently, the center directly benefits 300 students, who now have better educational opportunities.
With this contribution, Drummond Ltd. continues to contribute to strengthening the institutional and community capability of the education sector, in line with its commitment to fostering environments that promote social development, inclusion, and improved quality of life for the region’s residents.
