Drummond Ltd. shares its performance results in its 2024 Sustainability Report

Drummond Ltd. presents its 2024 Sustainability Report, a document that reflects the milestones achieved in environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) matters, reaffirming its commitment to responsible mining and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“This report is the result of the joint work of all of us who share the purpose of generating a positive environmental, social and economic impact. Our commitment to sustainability is not only focused on achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, but also on making a decisive contribution to the development of the Caribbean region and the country,” said Carolina Riaño, Chief Sustainability Officer of Drummond Company.

In the environmental area, the Company highlights the use of 76% of the waste generated in its operations, equivalent to 23,024 tons, reaffirming its commitment to the circular economy. In addition, 33 % of the energy used came from renewable sources, a key advance towards its carbon-neutral target in 2050. Drummond also achieved 100% compliance with its Water Saving and Efficient Use Program, saving more than 1.5 million cubic meters of water in its mining operations.

In the social area, one of the results highlighted in the report is that 240 families benefited from housing projects in the municipalities of La Jagua de Ibirico and Chiriguaná, Cesar, improving their quality of life and strengthening the community fabric. Educational strengthening also stands out: 244 young people have received scholarships for higher education and 3,200 adults have been taught to read and write in the municipalities of the mining corridor.

Regarding the production sector, one of the initiatives presented is the Drummond project in alliance with Agroemprende Cacao, which allowed more than 100 families of the Perijá Cocoa Growers Association – ASOCOPE, to go from producing 192 kilos to 65 tons of cocoa per year, achieving exports to European and Asian markets in 2024. These results ratify the Company’s commitment to productive diversification and the economic reconversion of the territory.

The report also highlights the contribution to employment and regional development: Drummond generated 11,327 direct and indirect jobs, of which 90 % were for personnel from the Caribbean region and 72 % for people born in Cesar and Magdalena.
