As part of its commitment to sustainable development and economic diversification in Cesar, Drummond Ltd. successfully held the discussion ‘Women who start businesses, women who transform’, an initiative of the Ruta D project – Entrepreneurship Incubator, implemented by the Canadian organization Socodevi.
The meeting, held in La Jagua de Ibirico, brought together more than 200 women entrepreneurs from seven municipalities in the department of Cesar, who shared experiences, lessons learned, challenges and progress of their productive initiatives.
This space made it possible to recognize the strategic role of women as agents of economic and social transformation.
“This meeting is a demonstration of our commitment to creating real opportunities for transformation, promoting economic reconversion and sharing the benefits of mining with other productive sectors. “The Ruta D project has a presence in Agustín Codazzi, Becerril, Chiriguaná, El Paso, La Jagua de Ibirico, as well as in Bosconia and El Copey,” highlighted Ever Carrillo Navarro, coordinator of social and environmental projects of corporate social responsibility at Drummond Ltd.

Through this project, Drummond Ltd. provides training, technical support and capitalization of business ideas, by delivering supplies, equipment and tools aimed at strengthening businesses.
The discussion included testimonies from women who have turned their ideas into life projects. Such was the case of Elisa Córdoba, an entrepreneur from Bosconia and creator of Mila Gourmet, who highlighted the value of these spaces in strengthening the confidence and business vision of the participants: “I arrived with doubts and I’m leaving full of energy. Listening to other women reaffirms my belief that it’s worth continuing.”
Luz Amparo González Sandoval, regional manager of Socodevi, highlighted that the discussion is the result of the coordinated work with Drummond: “More than 70% of the businesses identified in this territory are led by women. Today we gathered about 200 of them. This process demonstrates that when a woman starts a business, her community also progresses.”
