Within the framework of the partnership between Drummond Ltd. and United Way Colombia, a project is being developed aimed at strengthening the quality of education in the department of Cesar. In this context, the co-creation and innovation classrooms were presented at the Francisco de Paula Santander educational institution in Agustín Codazzi, and the Ángela María Torres Suárez educational institution in Becerril.

The co-creation classrooms are pre-existing spaces that were adapted and transformed into innovative learning environments, in a process accompanied by Universidad de la Costa as a strategic ally in the participatory stage of co-creation. The classrooms were designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, and collaborative work between students and teachers.

“These classrooms represent much more than a physical space; they are an opportunity for students and teachers to explore new ways of learning and develop their creativity and build solutions to the challenges of their environment. “At Drummond Ltd., we continue to invest in education as an engine for development and social transformation in our communities,” stated Amalí Blanco Bohórquez, Corporate Social Responsibility Project Coordinator at Drummond Ltd.

The elements that make up these classrooms were selected under criteria of sustainability and environmental responsibility, prioritizing durable, reusable and environmentally friendly materials. In this way, in addition to promoting active and creative learning, these spaces foster a culture of environmental awareness and responsible use of resources.

“What excites me most about all this is that we are starting to change the type of traditional education, where students were in a row, one desk behind the other. “This type of classroom is showing us a little bit of what education will be like in the future,” said the principal of the Ángela María Torregrosa Educational Institution in Becerril.

During the day, attendees participated in classroom activation activities, demonstrating the potential of these environments to transform pedagogical practices and enrich the educational experience.

“Having a co-recreation classroom like the one we inaugurated means much more than a physical space. It represents an opportunity for us, as students, to actively participate in our own learning. It’s a place where our ideas matter, where we can work as a team, share knowledge, and build solutions together. This type of classroom invites us to be creative, to think critically, and to learn by doing, not just by listening. “For us, it is a symbol of confidence in our abilities and a motivation to be protagonists of our educational processes,” said Eliana Carrillo, student representative of the Francisco de Paula Santander Educational Institution in Agustín Codazzi.

With this initiative, Drummond Ltd. reaffirms its commitment to the comprehensive development of communities, promoting innovative, inclusive and sustainable educational environments that contribute to improving the quality of education in the region.
