Drummond Ltd. participated in the 2nd Annual Meeting of School Principals and Caribbean Hackathon: Education and Innovation, an event held in Barranquilla that brought together school administrators, teachers, academic representatives, partners, and other stakeholders in the education sector to discuss, analyze, and develop solutions
to the main challenges facing education.
As part of its “Quality Education with Drummond” project, the company participated in the event along with eight principals from educational institutions in its area of influence in Cesar and Magdalena.
“Transforming education means opening up opportunities for our region. This was a
space to strengthen leadership, share experiences, and promote innovative ideas that
contribute to improving the quality of education,” stated Amalí Blanco Bohórquez,
Corporate Social Responsibility Project Coordinator at Drummond Ltd.
During the event, participants reflected on the use
of evidence and data for decision-making, aspects
that contribute to strengthening the leadership of
teachers and administrators as key players in
driving transformation processes within
educational institutions. Additionally, the National
Teacher Prize Colombia was presented, an
initiative that seeks to recognize and highlight
teachers who are transforming education in their
classrooms and communities.

Participation in this event complements the work that Drummond Ltd. is developing with United Way Colombia, an ally with whom the company has collaborated on initiatives aimed at strengthening education in the Cesar and Magdalena departments.
“This relationship between United Way Colombia and Drummond is a long-standing one, which for more than seven years has sought to transform education and raise its level in Magdalena and Cesar. Drummond has understood the need to create an ecosystem of educational institutions that are committed to improving pedagogical practices, but that can also focus on
strengthening 21st-century skills,” highlighted Carmen Elena Díaz Gutiérrez, Caribbean Regional Leader of United Way Colombia.

Currently, this work is present in the municipalities
within the company’s area of influence, where actions
have been developed to strengthen educational practices and the capacities of school
communities.
“Drummond’s commitment to education in Cesar, and in particular to our educational institution, has been very important because it has helped us improve academic results. Today, education has key partners who have helped us improve teacher training, and
naturally, this is reflected in better student outcomes,” said Antonio Luquetta Quintero, principal of the Francisco de Paula Santander Educational Institution in Agustín Codazzi, Cesar.
For the participating school principals, the support and collaboration with partners has provided opportunities to strengthen their institutions and advance educational improvement processes.
“Drummond has truly been a company that has contributed to and supported us in all
these growth and strengthening processes. It has been fundamental in countless projects we have undertaken. From the Ángela María Torres Suárez Educational Institution, and from the municipality of Becerril, we truly feel it is the only company that has genuinely committed to change and improving the quality of education in the region. We can only express our gratitude,” said Adolfo González Ramírez, principal of the aforementioned
institution.
With its participation in the 2nd Annual Meeting of School Principals, Drummond Ltd.
continues to promote spaces for dialogue and collaboration that allow educational
leaders in its area of influence to share knowledge, strengthen their capacities, and
generate new ideas to contribute to the improvement of education in their communities.
