As part of its commitment to strengthening the institutional and community capacity of the education sector, Drummond Ltd. delivered the project to expand, improve and furnish the San Isidro Agro-Environmental Educational Institution, Campo Alegre, in the municipality of La Jagua de Ibirico.
Yilda Tatiana Pineda, Drummond Ltd.’s senior supervisor of community relations and governance, highlighted the importance of social investments in educational infrastructure: “When children have good classrooms and a good school environment, it is reflected in the results of their studies. From Drummond Ltd. we continue to ratify our commitment to contribute to quality education in our communities”.
The intervention, carried out over a period of five months, included the construction of a kitchen-dining room and a toilet block, as well as the improvement of four classrooms (preschool, elementary, high school and systems). In addition, a complete set of equipment was delivered, including work stations for preschool and elementary school, school chairs, lockers, boards, tables and chairs for the dining room, and an ecological point.

The project was carried out in agreement with the Mayor’s Office of La Jagua de Ibirico, responsible for its formulation and technical follow-up, which contributes to the improvement of the conditions of the school building, promoting the access and permanence of students in the educational system.

“I never tire of saying it. For me, it will always be very important to highlight Drummond’s presence in our territory. With this good neighbor we agreed on the improvement of this school and today it is a reality,” said Leonardo Hernández Cataño, mayor of the municipality of La Jagua de Ibirico.
This is the 19th school that Drummond Ltd. has intervened in La Jagua de Ibirico, reaffirming the contribution of mining to the strengthening of education in the territory.
Fabián Calderón Navarro, dean of the San Isidro Agro Environmental Educational Institution, expressed his thanks to the mining company: “I am just grateful with Drummond. I know and recognize the company’s commitment to rural education from its social responsibility”.
In this way, Drummond Ltd. continues to contribute to the well-being and progress of neighboring communities, supporting projects that strengthen education, social infrastructure and development opportunities.
