Reaffirming its commitment to social and educational development in its area of influence, Drummond Ltd., in partnership with the Valledupar Journalists’ Circle (CPV), is launching a new version of the scholarship program for journalists in the department of Cesar. This initiative will allow the recipient to pursue a specialization in areas related to communication and journalism, or in academic programs with applications related to communications

Interested journalists can submit their applications from Tuesday, March 24th to Friday, April 24th, 2026. To participate, they must send the required documentation and the application form to the email address: comunicacionesdrummond@drummondltd.com, indicating in the subject line: Drummond Ltd Communications Scholarship. Similarly, the complete and duly filled-out documentation may be sent in a sealed envelope directly to the Drummond offices in Valledupar (Calle 12 No. 8 – 42, Offices 303 and 304, Orbe Plaza Building).

Journalists interested in applying for the communications scholarship must meet the selection criteria established in the Scholarship Program’s Terms of Reference:

  • Applicants must submit their resume.
  • Applicants must have been born in the department of Cesar, or demonstrate that they have lived there for more than 10 years.
  • Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree in communication and journalism, and/or related fields such as the Humanities (Psychology, Anthropology, and Law), as well as Business Administration and Economics.
  • Applicants must be currently employed by a media outlet or working as journalists.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a minimum of five (5) years of experience.
  • Applicants must submit a letter of motivation (maximum two pages) outlining their career path, personal interests, and desire to further their academic training.
  • Applicants must submit two academic and/or professional letters of recommendation.
  • Applicants must submit physical or digital copies (audio, video, or print) of four journalistic works completed and published within the last year.
  • Once the above requirements are met and all required documentation is submitted, the first stage of the evaluation process will begin. This stage will be conducted by a jury composed of a representative from the Valledupar Journalists’ Circle, a delegate from the Communications Department of Drummond Ltd., and a member of civil society from Cesar.
  • After this first stage, shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview with the jury.
  • Failure to meet all requirements, or failure to submit complete documentation and work, will result in the applicant’s application not being considered.
  • The scholarship will be awarded to the applicant who has submitted complete documentation, meets all requirements, and has a score higher than 4.5 out of 5.

Once the application period closes, the evaluation and selection process for the applications received will begin. Participants will then be informed of the deadlines for each stage of the process, and the scholarship recipient will be announced via press release.

Among the journalists who have benefited from previous versions of the program are: Carlos Jiménez Saucedo, Humberto Carrillo Mindiola, Arnold Murillo Rincón, Aquiles Hernández Saurith, Daniela Cárdenas Seoanes, Wendy Peralta Cano, Miguel Alguero Montaño, Ludy Ovalle Jácome, and Liliana Vanegas Romero.

“I am very grateful to Drummond Ltd. and the CPV for this opportunity. It has been a very enriching experience to return to academia after several years of professional practice. The scholarship has allowed me to update my knowledge, strengthen my skills, and acquire new tools that significantly contribute to the growth of my career as a journalist. I encourage journalists in Cesar to apply and take advantage of this great opportunity to continue their training and professional growth,” said Ludy Ovalle Jácome, winner of the 2024 communications scholarship.

With this program, Drummond Ltd. reaffirms its social responsibility by providing training opportunities to outstanding journalists in the Cesar department through the Communications Scholarships.
