As part of the implementation of its Socioeconomic Management Plan (PMS), Drummond
Ltd. handed over the upgraded and modernized Drinking Water Treatment Plant (PTAP)
in the village of Boquerón, within the municipality of La Jagua de Ibirico, Cesar.
Thanks to this initiative, approximately 1,300 people across 424 households now have
access to renovated infrastructure that ensures a more reliable supply of higher-quality
drinking water.
The project involved the comprehensive modernization of the water supply system’s key
components, including improvements to the intake well, the replacement of 4.5
kilometers of supply piping between the well and the treatment plant, the optimization
of the treatment plant and storage tanks, and a complete overhaul of the internal
electrical systems to ensure safer, more efficient operations.
“Before, we never knew if we would be able to get any water; today, thanks to Drummond providing the plant, we simply turn on the tap and the water flows,” said Meris López Ríos, a beneficiary.
The quality of the water produced by the plant was verified through analyses conducted by Nancy Flores García Laboratories—an IDEAM-accredited facility—confirming compliance with established standards for human consumption.
“The delivery of this modernized plant reflects our commitment to driving projects that create a positive impact through investments that strengthen infrastructure and improve the quality of life for families in our area of influence,” stated Wisam Faraj Obregón, Senior Resettlement Supervisor at Drummond Ltd.
