As part of the Focal project, Drummond Ltd., through its Social Investment Plan and under the Productive Diversification strategic line, delivered tools and supplies to capitalize on the action plans of producers of patilla (watermelon), panocha, artisanal wine and pottery in the department of Cesar.

This project, which began in August 2024, seeks to improve production conditions, strengthen productive organizations and generate greater income opportunities for families involved in these traditional activities with high potential for the economic development of the municipalities.

This capitalization benefits more than 300 families, grouped in five productive associations, who actively participate in the consolidation of their business units. The integral strengthening process was developed in a structured manner and included an organizational diagnosis, implementation of a training plan, joint construction of an action plan and the delivery of equipment and tools as capitalization by Drummond Ltd.

The associations that benefited from this project were: Asociación de Patilleros y Pescadores de El Paso (Asopape), Asociación de Panocheras de Rincón Hondo (Asopari), Asociación de Familias Panocheras de Rincón Hondo, Asociación de Productores de Vino de Palma de La Jagua de Ibirico and Asociación de Ladrilleros de Chiriguaná.

“Our commitment to the development of Cesar goes beyond that. Through this line of productive diversification, we seek to strengthen local capacities and open development paths for rural families in our area of influence,” said Ever Carrillo Navarro, coordinator of social and environmental responsibility projects at Drummond Ltd.

The delivery of tools for the El Paso Patilleros Association included equipment such as motor pumps, back pumps and scythes, and was based on the specific needs of each productive activity.

“Thank you Drummond for these tools that are going to strengthen my crops. But it wouldn’t just be mine, it would be that of everyone on the patilleros board,” said Ana Martínez Ramos, a member of the El Paso Patilleros Association.

The two bakery associations of Rincón Hondo received ovens, trays, mixers, steel tables, freezers, baskets, industrial mixers, among other supplies and tools.

“We are receiving this help from Drummond, and we want to tell them that we appreciate their support, not only for the resources they provide us, but also for the added value they give to the daily efforts we all make to maintain this beautiful tradition,” said Andis Martínez Salas, a member of the Rincón Hondo Association of Panochera Families.

These actions are part of Drummond Ltd.’s vision to promote the sustainable development of the territory, promoting productive alternatives that diversify the local economy, rescuing ancestral knowledge to strengthen the cultural identity of the communities.
