    Water Resource Management Chapter

Thanks to our EMS, Environmental Management System, we have developed systematic strategies to identify, assess and manage the environmental impacts arising from our mining and port operations. A large proportion of the impacts we have on the region are related to water.

We understand water as an invaluable natural resource essential for the life of all species on the planet, including humans. For this reason, we are committed to implementing preventive and corrective measures that promote and structure the efficient, responsible and conscious management of water resources.

  2. Protecting Biodiversity

    Protecting Biodiversity

Our mining and port operations are carried out in one of the countries with the greatest environmental wealth in the world, full of ecosystems with unparalleled biodiversity. Understanding the natural importance of the areas where we operate, we have decided, through our Environmental Management System, to implement measures to safeguard the species that live in the regions where we have an impact, mitigating the impacts of our work and promoting ecological restoration measures to compensate for the ecosystems we have affected.

We are committed to protecting and caring for life in all of its forms!

  3. Climate Change and the Energy Transition

Climate Change and the Energy Transition

We are working to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. To do so, we have published a comprehensive strategy that focuses on reducing, offsetting and efficiently managing the carbon generated by our operations.

This initiative, communicated to all of our stakeholders, demonstrates our genuine commitment to sustainability, investment in clean energy and the fight against climate change. The strategy, approved by our senior management team, has been shared broadly, generating a great deal of media coverage both regionally and nationally.

  4. Air Quality

    Air Quality

We are committed to the sustainable management of our mining and port operations. We recognize that our activities generate emissions of particulate matter, which is why we have implemented a program to control them. Through detailed analyses of the sources of emissions, we have established prevention, mitigation and control measures to comply with environmental regulations and protect the health of our workers, communities and the environment.

  5. Managing and Closing the Waste Cycle

Managing and Closing the Waste Cycle

We have developed a robust ISO 14001-certified environmental management system to identify, assess and mitigate the impacts of our mining and port operations. In terms of waste management, we have made significant progress such as the proper final disposal of waste, good waste sorting and classification practices at the source and promoting the circular economy thanks to reuse and reduction measures.

We have determined that one of our real negative impacts is the effect on the soil caused by the waste generated by our activities; however, this impact is confined to the Company’s properties and does not affect the surrounding communities. We are committed to continuous improvement and protecting the environment.
