The goal is to contribute to the solution of problems present in the township of La Aurora in relation to the capture well and water supply. EnBW, one of the largest power generation companies in Germany, buys Colombian coal for its thermal power plants in Germany and provides technical assistance for community water projects in the area of \u200b\u200binfluence of Colombian coal mines in the context of its Corporate Social Responsibility and coal supply chain responsibility.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Residents in the township receive water that is directly pumped from the existing well. The well\u2019s structure and capture piping are obsolete and have not received any maintenance since their installation, a condition that has obstructed the water from getting to homes in better conditions.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During this socialization meeting with members of the Environmental and Community Relations department from Drummond Ltd., as well as representatives from EnBW, the third largest energy generation company in Germany, inhabitants of La Aurora were informed of the project\u2019s advances.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The technical assistance includes, from a well test and an analysis of the water quality carried out by Drummond&#8217;s technical divisions, the cleaning of the well and the replacement of the supply pipes, as well as the layout of a plant of water purification based on ultrafiltration and sterilization.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"861\" height=\"647\" src=\"https:\/\/drummondltd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Sistema-de-acueducto-en-La-Aurora3_DLTD.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/drummondltd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Sistema-de-acueducto-en-La-Aurora3_DLTD.jpg 861w, https:\/\/drummondltd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Sistema-de-acueducto-en-La-Aurora3_DLTD-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/drummondltd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Sistema-de-acueducto-en-La-Aurora3_DLTD-768x577.jpg 768w, https:\/\/drummondltd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Sistema-de-acueducto-en-La-Aurora3_DLTD-16x12.jpg 16w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 861px) 100vw, 861px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe project consists of the optimization of the capture and water supply system in the entrance of La Aurora township. To date, we have been able to do maintenance on the water well and change the galvanized piping for one made of stainless steel (supplied by the Chiriguana Mayor\u2019s office), which has been connected to the distribution network. By carrying out these activities, we\u2019ve improved the water quality from the source\u201d, an affirmation made by the project\u2019s director, Romeo Ramos, Environmental Project Engineer for Drummond Ltd.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The township\u2019s population expressed their gratefulness with the work carried out by Drummond and EnBW. Liz Villegas, member of La Aurora\u2019s Community Action Board expressed, \u201cEvery time that we\u2019ve asked for Drummond\u2019s help, they\u2019ve responded and taken into account our community, they\u2019ve always helped us. Now, the water we receive is in very good condition\u201d.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Professor Adelson Ochoa also declared that \u201cthe company has been an integral part in the process of improving the quality of the water and the sewage system. We are very thankful because no municipal, regional or national entity had been as concerned about improving this basic and fundamental service\u201d.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Representatives from the German company who supported this project from the beginning, were present during the socialization and declared their approval when they closely observed Drummond Ltd.\u2019s work and its corporate social responsibility and compensation programs. \u201cI think what Drummond is doing with the residents from its area of influence is great; as well as their interest in seeing them prosper and have projects that favor the environment\u201d, ensured Johannes Laubach, EnBW\u2019s representative in Colombia.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La Aurora, a township neighboring our zone of influence, is part of the populations that have benefitted by the company\u2019s social responsibility programs, where we have also implemented programs aimed at sports, health, and providing a better educational quality to the younger generations.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many families will benefit from this project.
