*Ship ‘PYXIS OCEAN’ was loaded with 76,998 tons of coal at Drummond Port.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n

In a new step towards sustainability in maritime transportation, Drummond Port loaded the vessel ‘PYXIS OCEAN’, a vessel equipped with a wind-assisted propulsion system that allows it to navigate more efficiently, optimizing fuel consumption and reducing its carbon footprint.<\/p>\n\n

The Kamsarmax type vessel is 229 meters long, 32.2 meters wide and has a deadweight of 82,000 tons. During its passage through the maritime terminal, located in Ci\u00e9naga, Magdalena, it was loaded with 76,998 tons of coal bound for Chile, demonstrating the Port’s operational capacity and versatility to handle state-of-the-art vessels. <\/p>\n\n

Thanks to its innovative folding sail system, the vessel can perform loading and unloading maneuvers without interfering with port operations. In this process, Drummond Port\u2019s direct loading system and its highly trained operators once again demonstrated their ability to execute safe, efficient maneuvers adapted to new maritime technologies. <\/p>\n\n

The wind-assisted propulsion system with which the ‘PYXIS OCEAN’ was retrofitted enables an estimated 15-20% reduction in CO2 emissions, thus contributing to global shipping decarbonization efforts and compliance with new industry environmental standards.<\/p>\n\n
