Drummond Energy Inc. delivered to the Corpocesar Regional Autonomous Corporation the piezometric network, a groundwater monitoring system designed to characterize the alluvial hydrogeological unit in the main exploitable aquifers of the Cesar Sub-basin, in the municipalities of La Jagua de Ibirico, Chiriguan\u00e1 and El Paso, Cesar.<\/p>\n\n

As part of the environmental commitment, and in compliance with the obligation to invest 1% of the Caporo Norte Development Area and La Loma Exploratory Block projects, this project involved the construction of eight (8) monitoring stations consisting of twenty-three (23) piezometers in order to have coverage in the watersheds of the Sicarare and Fernambuco rivers and the San Antonio stream.<\/p>\n\n

With an investment of more than 3 billion pesos, this network will allow a detailed characterization of groundwater in the region, including stratigraphic, physicochemical and hydrogeological aspects. This analysis will provide a statistically representative distribution, essential for the accurate assessment of the quality, quantity and use of groundwater resources in the area. <\/p>\n\n

In addition, it is important to emphasize that the scope of this investment was shaped by several subprojects, among which, in addition to the construction of the network, included the acquisition of software and hardware for the modeling and regional mapping of the aquifers, as well as the training of Corpocesar staff and the strengthening of the entity’s environmental laboratory with new equipment, elements and inputs for the analysis of physicochemical parameters of groundwater that guarantee its operation for two years.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cTogether with Corpocesar, we delivered these piezometers that were built for groundwater monitoring, in addition to strengthening the environmental laboratory to implement the monitoring plan. These deliveries will help to properly plan and manage the groundwater resource in the territory,\u201d said Vanessa Villalobos Armenta, environmental supervisor at Drummond Energy.<\/p>\n\n

The delivery of this network, in compliance with the standards established by the National Environmental Licensing Authority, ANLA, represents a significant advance in the sustainable management of water resources in the region. This ensures that Corpocesar has the necessary tools and knowledge to carry out a continuous and detailed assessment of the aquifer. <\/p>\n\n

\u201cThis project is of the utmost importance for the region. To know the status, quantity and quality of our groundwater through these 23 wells, divided into 10 stations in the municipalities of Agustin Codazzi, Becerril, La Jagua de Ibirico and Chiriguan\u00e1 is significant because we will know the state of our groundwater in the Fernambuco, San Antonio and Sicarare river basins,\u201d said Adriana Garc\u00eda Ar\u00e9valo, Managing Director of Corpocesar.<\/p>\n\n
