The most recent presentation of the Mining Compass (Br\u00fajula Minera) survey, developed by Jaime Arteaga y Asociados (JA&A) in collaboration with the Colombian Mining Association (ACM) and the National Association of Industrialists (ANDI), shows compelling data on the positive perception of mining in Colombia, and in particular, in the department of Cesar.<\/p>\n\n

At the national level, 65% of Colombians consider mining to be beneficial for the country. However, in Cesar, this perception is even more favorable: 81% of residents consider mining to be a positive force for the country, and this percentage rises to 87% when asked about its impact at the municipal level. <\/p>\n\n

Mining is recognized as the main generator of employment in Cesar, with 53% of respondents identifying it as the largest source of jobs, compared to 16% recorded overall. Furthermore, 51% of those surveyed in Cesar perceive that mining is the sector that contributes the most to regional growth. <\/p>\n\n

Mining also stands out in the area of social responsibility, with 55% of respondents pointing to this sector as a leader in social investments. This underlines the mining industry’s commitment to the well-being and development of local communities. <\/p>\n\n

“These results show that mining in Cesar is not only a crucial source of employment and economic development, but also a sector committed to social progress and the well-being of local communities. The positive perception and trust of citizens reinforce the essential role of mining in the sustainable development of the region,” says Jos\u00e9 Miguel Linares, president of Drummond Ltd.<\/p>\n\n

Furthermore, eight out of ten inhabitants of Cesar have a positive opinion of mining companies, and 75% consider that, if these companies stopped operating, the region’s economy would worsen.<\/p>\n\n

These results reflect the important contribution of mining to the economic and social development of Cesar, and underline the industry’s commitment to the sustainable progress of the region and its communities of influence.<\/p>\n\n
