Drummond Ltd. Donated 600 Trees in Support of Development and Peace

Drummond Ltd. donated 600 fruit trees to the Environmental Secretary’s Office of the Provincial Government of El Cesar. Mr. Francisco Ovalle Angarita, Governor of this Department, presided over the ceremony.

This important ceremony was held in the municipality of Bosconia during the so called “Route of Development and Peace,” a program of the Provincial Government of El Cesar, which has as purpose to bring solutions to the needs of the population under condition of vulnerability.

The 600 trees delivered are intended for the people from the different municipalities who need revegetation on their land. Ms. María José Páez, Secretary of the Environment (in charge) of the Provincial Government of El Cesar commented, “we make the delivery through the Presidents of the Community Action Boards. They sign an agreement and will follow up on the growth of the trees, which will benefit the community.”
Likewise, she thanked Drummond Ltd. for this important gift, “In the name of our Governor, Mr. Francisco Ovalle Angarita, hereby we thank Drummond for donating these trees, among them mango, soursop, guava and genip trees. They will serve as shade to many people from the municipalities of the Department of El Cesar,” stated Ms. Páez.

The plant species delivered were produced in the forest nursery of the company,
located at the Pribbenow Mine; where a variety of native plants, both timber –
yielding as well as fruit trees are grown.
