The Ambassador of the Netherlands in Colombia, Jeroen Roodenburg, along with Pauline Blom, First Secretary and Policy Advisor on Economic Affairs , visited the Pribbenow Mine, a property of Drummond Ltd. within the mining concessions of La Loma in the Department of El Cesar on December 19th and 20th, 2016.
The diplomats had the opportunity of meeting with Mr. José Miguel Linares, President of Drummond Ltd., along with other executives of the company. Together the following priority topics were discussed: Human Rights, Social Responsibility and Relations with the Community, Environment, Industrial Safety and labor issues.
Ambassador Roodenburg and Ms. Blom also had the opportunity of meeting with labor union leaders, members of the community, and representatives from the local government. The Ambassador expressed to the executives of the company his satisfaction for having had the opportunity to speak to a representative group of people and with groups of interest around the mining project that Drummond manages and he thanked the company for its open and transparent attitude.
Regarding this, Mr. José Miguel Linares said: “I am very satisfied with this visit. The Netherlands are the main gateway of our coal to the European market, and it is of utmost importance that its representative in Colombia gets to know us, become familiar with our environment and especially that we work together so that the issues of mutual interest make headway in satisfactory manner”.
For Drummond it is a priority to establish sound relations with the communities from its area of influence, the authorities, customers, governments and other public entities of interest by creating space to dialogue.
The representatives from the Dutch government had the opportunity of witnessing the commitment that Drummond Ltd. has with the safety of its employees, the environment, the operation and its neighboring communities.
The visitors were able to learn about the procedures, the equipment and the technology used in our operations.
