As part of its commitment to sustainable development and education, Drummond Ltd., in alliance with Aptiva Labs, awarded certificates to 50 students and teachers from different educational institutions in the municipalities of La Jagua de Ibirico and Chiriguaná, in Cesar, after successfully completing the “Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Education with Drummond” project.
The initiative, which promotes the responsible and productive use of technological tools, seeks to strengthen the digital capabilities of the communities in its mining area of influence.
“It is a source of satisfaction for Drummond to contribute to the strengthening of the participants’ digital skills and their commitment to a more prosperous future. The feedback received from the educational institutions has been highly positive, which reflects the significant impact and transformative value of this experience,” said Amalí Blanco Bohórquez, project coordinator of corporate social responsibility at Drummond Ltd.
The training, which lasted 40 hours, included practical content on productivity tools, artificial intelligence, time management, teamwork and problem solving, with the aim of preparing young people for the challenges of today’s and tomorrow’s working world.

Participants not only acquired technical knowledge. They also developed digital solutions applied to real problems in their communities. One of them was Johan Santos Bayona, who designed an application to connect users with professionals in services such as carpentry: “This program impacted my life positively. I developed skills in artificial intelligence that I didn’t have before, and that can help me throughout my life. With my project I seek to help people who need services with professionalism and efficiency,” he said.
Another of the students, Joshuar Reyes Labrador, highlighted the long-term impact of the program: “I thank Drummond for teaching us about these artificial intelligence courses that support our job growth to achieve our goals.”

The initiative was also recognized by local authorities. Dora Vera Martínez, Secretary of Education of La Jagua de Ibirico, said: “Projects like these help us strengthen the education of our children. They need these tools to access higher education, and what better way than with Drummond’s help”.
This course marks the beginning of a series of initiatives that seek to strengthen the social fabric through the use of technology and active learning methodologies.

“Through the Productivity with Artificial Intelligence course, we provide 11th grade students with tools that boost their intellectual development and their future participation in the labor market,” said Fabián Mestre Socarrás, manager of Aptiva Labs.
Within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Drummond reaffirms its role as a key player in promoting economic restructuring projects and strengthening human capital, relying on technology as a transforming force to open up new educational opportunities in the regions.
