There were 85 company leaders participating in the ‘Drummond Ltd. Industrial Safety Summit with Contractors’, a space organized by the company to strengthen relations and strengthen the culture of industrial safety on the road to interdependence.
The event brought together managers and leaders of the various contracting companies and representatives of Drummond areas, including: Jason Young, vice president of mining operations; Alec Ramonell, vice president of technical services; Peter Burrus, vice president of operations for the Department of Transportation; Johnny Guerrero, manager of industrial safety; Jorge Cotes, purchasing manager; Felipe Solano, contract manager, among others.
As Johnny Guerrero explained: “This year’s goal is to inspire conscious leaders to take their role in safety, make timely decisions and promote a fair culture to protect lives. That’s what we expect from leaders today.” This will allow us, as reinforced throughout the meeting, to continue building a world-class operation, with world-class contractors, who become aware of the meaning of industrial safety to achieve interdependence.

The space, which projected statistics, opportunities for improvement and advances in understanding the security challenges faced by participants, also allowed for interaction from the public who expressed their contributions and concerns.
Among the activities carried out, special recognition was given to companies that stood out for their work on safety and health at work: Kaltire, Duramos S.A.S, Confipetrol, DV Ingeniería S.A.S, SGS, Equipolivianos; were recognized for their performance. While, CHM Mining, Constructivol, Technofire, Interaseo, Villa Loly, Eproq Mechanics, were highlighted by the reduction of accident rates.
“This recognition shows not only the work of CHM (Mining), but the joint work we have had with Drummond and all the employees. For us it was reaching a milestone, because we are usually having, annually, more than 1,200,000 hours of exposure,” said Javier Osorio Martínez, operations manager of CHM Minería.
Within the framework of the Summit, the contractors also participated in different conferences associated with the ‘Legal Update in Responsibilities’ and ‘Neuroscience for a Leadership’.
“It’s very satisfying to see how a company cares so much about its suppliers and their associated personnel. We were able to see how to further motivate people using neuroscience to reach them and make them consciously take the issue of occupational health and safety more seriously,” said Luis Fernando García Barrera, Energy director for SGS Colombia.
In this way Drummond Ltd. reaffirms the commitment and effort to consolidate a collective and efficient industrial safety culture, also extending it to its contractors to generate greater rigorous industrial practices, risk management and safe actions that contribute to the goal of zero accidents and sustainable operation.
