In an effort to strengthen the values, sports development, and psychosocial well-being of children and young people in the township of Cordobita, municipality of Ciénaga, in the department of Magdalena, Drummond Ltd., together with Fundeban and the Casa en el Árbol Foundation, delivered sports elements at the Carlos García Mayorca District Educational Institution. This event is part of the Sports Initiation and Training Center (CIFD) program, which benefits about 50 students.
The CIFD program, now in its seventh year, seeks not only to promote sports but also to work on the comprehensive training of participants and their families. Álvaro Daza, senior supervisor of communities in Magdalena, highlighted: “We are strengthening the values of the students with parallel work with the school for parents. This strategy has been very favorable for their growth as people. They are going to be the leaders of the future.”
On the day, uniforms, sneakers, and sports bags were delivered, allowing the beneficiaries to train in better conditions and enhance their skills. Deiber Barrios Viloria, Fundeban’s sports coach for the CIFD, explained that the program not only includes training in sports such as football, volleyball, basketball, and chess but also psychosocial workshops: “This allows children to have recreational activities, train in a comprehensive way, and complement their academic performance.”
The mothers also expressed their gratitude. Débora de la Cruz Cantillo, a member of the Community Action Board of Cordobita, said: “It is a very nice initiative that always takes children into account. Above all, in the social sphere, it contributes greatly to our youth. I have two kids in the program, and they make the most of it.”
On the other hand, Ramón Ríos Contreras, principal of the Carlos García Mayorca Institution, said: “We are delivering on behalf of the foundations and allied entities such as Drummond, Fundeban, and Casa en el Árbol, to the students of the educational institution, who throughout this year have received emotional and sports support through the CIFD program.”
With the CIFD program, Drummond Ltd. demonstrates that sports are a powerful tool to transform communities and build social fabric. By promoting discipline, sports, emotional, and social training of children and young people, the company not only fosters the development of the communities’ future leaders but also positively transforms the territory where it operates, contributing to the integral growth of the communities.
