As part of its ongoing commitment to social development and improving the quality of life of the communities in its area of influence, Drummond Ltd. celebrated the closing of the sixth class of its Literacy Project, in partnership with Comfacesar. This year the program certified 200 people from the municipalities of Becerril and Agustín Codazzi. To date, there are already 3,200 fewer illiterate people in Cesar, thanks to the program.

“We support programs like Alfabetízate because we believe in the power of education to transform the lives of communities. These projects strengthen the intellectual, emotional, and economic development of the participants, contributing to the integral well-being of families. We are committed to a more prosperous and sustainable future,” said Amalí Blanco Bohórquez, CSR project coordinator at Drummond Ltd.

For approximately 10 months, participants completed cycles one and two of their pedagogical process, acquiring the necessary tools to improve their reading and writing skills. This program not only contributes to people’s literacy, but also strengthens their self-esteem and their ability to actively integrate into their communities.

“This training program for young people and adults has been running for six years in communities neighboring Drummond. It has had a great impact on families, improving both their intellectual and emotional development, and contributing to the economic well-being of the participants,” said Wilber Mejía Navarro, coordinator of projects and agreements at Comfacesar.

The “Alfabetízate con Drummond Ltd.” program is an example of the initiatives that the mining company implements to promote inclusion and social welfare in the mining corridor. Through this, the company reaffirms its commitment to the progress of neighboring communities, focusing on projects that generate a positive and lasting impact.

“Thank you for the teachings and practices you have given us. Everything you do is very beautiful and valuable. May the Lord always accompany you, thank you very much!” thanked Elicinio Botello Clavijo, a participant in the Alfabetízate Project.

Drummond recognizes the importance of these educational programs in transforming people’s lives and strengthening the social fabric. With the culmination of this sixth graduating class, the company celebrates the achievements of the graduates and reaffirms its commitment to continue working on initiatives that contribute to sustainable development and educational inclusion in the region.
