In order to strengthen local capacities and the integral development of the communities in its area of influence, Drummond Ltd., in partnership with Universidad Sergio Arboleda, awarded certificates to community leaders participating in the Strategic Management Diploma course, with an emphasis on Community Pedagogy.
“This course, which is as part of the company’s Social Investment Plan, seeks to strengthen the capacities of community leaders in 12 municipalities in its area of influence, providing them with tools to improve their management and promote sustainable development in their communities,” said Ever Carrillo, coordinator of corporate social responsibility projects at Drummond Ltd.
The presentation of certificates to leaders of the mining corridor took place during a visit to the company’s operations in Cesar. There, participants received lectures on sustainable mining practices, as well as a tour of the company’s operational and environmental areas, such as the Paujil Dam Forest Nursery.

Leaders of the port and rail corridor visited Drummond Port, located in Ciénaga, Magdalena. They learned about the company’s social responsibility strategies and environmental management, and visited areas such as the water reservoir, the coal storage yards and the direct loading dock. Later, they culminated their diploma course by receiving their certificate in a ceremony held at the Hilton Garden Hotel in Santa Marta.
The certification of the course marks the end of a comprehensive educational process designed to strengthen the skills of the participants, with a focus on community development.
“I would like to express my gratitude to Drummond for this important contribution to our communities by giving us the opportunity to carry out this diploma course together with Universidad Sergio Arboleda. Today we can go to our communities with more capabilities to contribute to a better country,” said Diofante Orozco Pérez, an inhabitant of the Repelón village, located in the municipality of El Paso, Cesar.
Rovinson Urieles Camargo, president of the Community Action Board of the ‘Barrio Abajo’ sector in Ciénaga, thanked the group for the visit and the course, highlighting Drummond’s care for the environment: “The training we have received is very valuable, and what we have learned we will apply within our communities.
” The company will continue to strengthen the leadership and local capabilities of the communities. This ratifies Drummond’s commitment to promoting quality education, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 4.
