Ciénaga, November 15, 2024
As part of its Environmental Management Plans, Drummond Ltd. held the Environmental Management and Climate Change Seminar in the Territory, certified by Sergio Arboleda University and structured with the objective of promoting dialogue, generating an exchange of knowledge between municipal administrations and the company, while providing tools focused on sustainable management for the communities.
The seminar invited 30 delegates and officials from the municipal administrations of Agustín Codazzi, Becerril, La Jagua de Ibirico and Chiriguaná, municipalities belonging to the mining corridor; and officials from Ciénaga, a municipality where our port is located.
“The theme that was established and developed was chosen by the delegates of the municipal administrations themselves, as it is in line with the strategic lines established in the development plans of these municipalities, in addition to allowing spaces for dialogue, knowledge and expertise,” said Ever Carrillo, Coordinator of corporate social responsibility projects at Drummond Ltd.
During the development of this seminar, Sergio Arboleda University, as a strategic ally for institutional and community strengthening projects, provided support and guidance through its experts.
These spaces for training and community strengthening are a fundamental component within the strategies established by the company for environmental management and development plans, both in the mine and in the port. They are also aligned with the municipal development plans of the area of influence.
“More than a workshop, we held a round table where all the concerns of each of the professionals who attended this seminar could be collected. “This is a great tool for community development planning and appropriation of the sense of global climate responsibility,” said Oscar Gonzalez, risk management advisor for the municipality of Chiriguaná. Likewise, his counterpart from the municipality of Becerril, Freddy Altamiranda, thanked Drummond and the Sergio Arboleda University, emphasizing that: “these training spaces are important to be able to expand our knowledge and structure environmental management plans in our municipalities.”
Representing Sergio Arboleda University, Gina Lindo, dean of Prime Business School, commented that, “it is a very important issue, not only in the global context, aligned with the sustainable development goals, but also an opportunity to empower the community in the management and knowledge of this information within their territories.”
Promoting these spaces is essential to achieve a consolidating awareness of environmental responsibility, which allows communities to address the global climate crisis, giving them the necessary tools to help face the challenges that arise in this area.
