Ratifying its commitment to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of the communities in its area of influence, Drummond Ltd. and the municipal government of El Paso, Cesar, signed the agreement for the High Impact Project, with which more than 100 families from the towns of Cuatro Vientos, El Carmen, El Vallito, La Loma and Potrerillo will fulfill their dream of owning a new home.
“We are very pleased. This project will mean a lot for the development of our municipality. With the construction of these homes we will reduce the housing deficit in the municipality of El Paso. We thank Drummond because this project helps us to dignify the quality of life of many families in our territory,” said Jesús Alberto Ortiz Cervantes, Mayor of El Paso, Cesar.
The social investment project, which provides decent housing to rural families in Drummond Ltd.’s area of influence., corresponds to Addendum No. 15 of the La Loma mining exploration and mining contract, agreed with the National Mining Agency and agreed with the municipalities of La Jagua de Ibirico, Chiriguaná and El Paso.
“We believe that this project is going to leave a very important legacy for the municipality of El Paso on the company’s part. We feel great satisfaction because we have seen how the homes we have delivered have represented a fundamental change in the lives of many people. Therefore, we expect to be able to change the lives of the new families that will benefit from this project,” said Carolina Riaño, chief sustainability officer of Drummond Company.
For the objective and transparent selection of beneficiaries, Adjudication Committees were formed to ensure the prioritization of households with a higher level of vulnerability, highlighting mothers who are heads of households, households with people with disabilities, population of special protection groups, among others.
With the development of this project, Drummond Ltd. contributes to the fulfillment of
the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 1 and 11, eradicating poverty and
contributing to more sustainable communities.
