*Drummond Energy Inc. complies with the requirements of ISO 14064-1:2018.
Reaffirming its commitment to climate action and transparency in managing its environmental impact, Drummond Energy Inc. received approval for verification of its Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventory from the firm Bureau Veritas (BVQI), in compliance with ISO 14064-1:2018.
Following the audit, conducted from October 1 to 21 of this year, the verifying entity confirmed that the company’s GHG statement is “materially correct and is a fair representation of the emissions data and information” related to its operations for the periods from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2023.
This significant milestone is aligned with the fulfillment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 13, “Climate Action”, and number 7, “Affordable and Clean Energy”, which promote measures towards emissions reduction and energy efficiency.
“This verification process not only strengthens our transparency in environmental management and alignment with the SDGs, but also actively contributes to the goals established in Colombia’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), which aims to reduce its GHG emissions by 51% by 2030 and be carbon neutral by 2050,” said M贸nica Escand贸n Rodr铆guez, HSE and communities manager at Drummond Energy Inc.
The verification, in addition to establishing that Drummond Energy complies with the requirements of ISO 14064-1:2018 in all aspects, ensures that the GHG inventory information presented does not exceed the materiality level of 5%.
During the audit, three verification methods were used: review, tracing and recalculation. The first one identifies errors in GHG data through follow-up research from primary sources to the information presented. The second one reveals errors, and the third is a recalculation test to the emission sources that represented the largest share in the inventory.
The analysis of the GHG emissions inventory reported by Drummond Energy determined that: it correctly reflects the emissions associated with its operations; it covers all relevant GHG sources; the documented operational control approach covers 100% of relevant emissions; the data presented is robust and supported by clear methodologies; and the calculations and estimates were free of systematic errors.
With this verification, Drummond Energy reaffirms its commitment as a key player in the fight against climate change, making progress in reducing its carbon footprint and guaranteeing the integrity of its actions in favor of the environment.
