Drummond regrets accident that one of its employees in its mining operationsDrummond Ltd. regrets to inform that one of its employees, Carlos Alberto Mejía, a shovel operator, was involved in an accident at the El Descanso mine this morning.
The company ́s emergency protocols were immediately activated, our safety and medical personnel promptly at the scene of the accident and carried out first aid assistance on Carlos. He was subsequently evacuated in an ambulance. Regrettably, due to the extent of the injuries, he died on arrival at a health center in Bosconia.
The company notified the appropriate authorities of the accident, and conveyed its condolences to Carlos ́ family. Representatives of Drummond ́ Human Resources department are the hospital to offer any assistance that may be needed.
As per the company ́s protocols, we have begun the investigation to determine the root cause of what happened, and carry out actions to prevent this type of incident from happening again.
