In the framework of the execution of its Social Investment Plan, Drummond Ltd. has a cooperation agreement with Socodevi, for the implementation of the Agroemprende Cacao project. The aim is to increase the productivity and competitiveness of cocoa cultivation in the municipality of Agustín Codazzi, Cesar, benefiting 75 families of the Association of Cocoa Growers of Perijá (Asocope).
Thanks to the contribution made by Drummond, with SOCODEVI as the developer of the project, and with the support of other financial allies such as the Embassy of Canada in Colombia, the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and APC Colombia, it was possible to make the cocoa produced by Asocope part of the export of more than ten tons of high quality cocoa to Belgium. This strengthens the cocoa value chain in the department of Cesar. This export was made by CACAO HUNTERS, strategic partner of the program.
“We are proud to witness this significant milestone for Agustin Codazzi’s cocoa families in our area of influence. This achievement is the result of committed community efforts and strategic partnerships. We will continue to work to strengthen the cocoa value chain in the region,” said Amalí Blanco Bohórquez, project coordinator for social responsibility at Drummond Ltd.
“Thanks to the help of our partners we have managed to improve our quality processes, from family businesses to profit centers.
Today we are proud to be exporting special cocoa produced in the Serranía del Perijá”, commented Liliana Ángulo, legal representative of Asocope.
These partnerships have allowed not only the growth of the cocoa sector, but also the implementation of sustainable practices that protect natural resources and promote the economic well-being of local communities.
