Reaffirming its commitment to the economic and social development of the country, Drummond received a visit from the Provincial Comptroller of Citizen Participation and a group of citizen observers at the mining operations to show the responsible mining processes that the company carries out.
During the visit, a tour of the facilities was conducted to learn about the extraction and production processes carried out at the Pribbenow mine. In addition, the Drummond Ltd. team gave a detailed presentation of the environmental management programs, social responsibility and mining projects implemented to minimize the impact of mining and contribute to the sustainable development of the region.
“Grateful for this tour, which was necessary for the overseers of the royalty resources and environmental overseers of Cesar, to live the direct experience and see where the resources they now oversee come from. This was necessary for them to see how mining resources are extracted in the department of Cesar,” said Carlos Amaya Ríos, provincial comptroller of the citizen participation group of the Cesar management.
It is worth noting that in 2023, Drummond Ltd. contributed 4.6 billion pesos in royalties and 2.8 billion pesos in taxes, fees and contributions, contributing to the economic and social development of the country.
“What Drummond Ltd. is doing is something valuable, many people think that one is going to find a lot of dust, where animals were found, and it is quite the opposite. I believe that the development that the department and many parts of the country have had, has been thanks to the royalties,” said José Ignacio Baquero Bonilla, provincial comptroller of the management of Cesar.
Strengthening its Governance for Development pillar, these actions reaffirm Drummond Ltd.’s commitment to transparency and continuous improvement of its operations, maintaining an open and constructive dialogue with the authorities and the community.
