Drummond surpassed 600 million tons of exported coal after 29 years of operations

Ciénaga, June 18, 2024

In the first half of 2024, Drummond Ltd. achieved its first 600 million tons exported. This milestone is achieved after 29 years of exports, since it was in 1995 that it made its first coal shipment from its port facility located in Ciénaga, Magdalena.

In that first shipment, Drummond exported 133,148 tons on the vessel MN EDEN, bound for Rotterdam, Netherlands. And in 2024, the new export record was completed with the W-OSLO vessel bound for Taiwan.

Milestones such as these have contributed to position the company as the main producer and exporter of the mineral in Colombia. Added to this is the constant teamwork of its human talent, as well as the world class environmental, safety and operational standards that are implemented.

It has also worked hard to strengthen its relationship with neighboring communities and to consolidate an economically viable and sustainable project.

It ́s worth recalling that in 2023, the company produced 29,563,329 tons of coal and exported 27,037,622 tons. Drummond’s high performance also allowed it to contribute 7.4 billion pesos in royalties and taxes to the country in 2023, and to make social investments of more than $70 billion pesos. In addition, it generated close to 11,000 direct jobs and close to 50,000 indirect jobs.

Drummond will continue to work to maintain its leadership in the production and export of coal, contributing to the energy security of coal-consuming countries and gradually advancing the transition processes that leverage the economic diversification of the regions where it operates, as it has been doing in charting its path towards carbon neutrality by 2050.
