Drummond Ltd. launched its Bilingualism Skills Strengthening pilot project, aimed at strengthening the learning of the English language in students from different educational institutions in the municipalities of its mining area of influence in the department of Cesar.
In order to start this program, 50 students were prioritized in each of the municipalities of Agust铆n Codazzi, Becerril, El Paso, La Jagua de Ibirico, and Chiriguan谩, for a total of 250 students, who are being trained in the sixth to eighth grades of basic secondary school in the prioritized educational institutions.
“Drummond is proud to announce our commitment to strengthening bilingualism in the mining corridor of the department of Cesar. We believe in the transformative power of learning different languages and its ability to open doors to a future full of opportunities,” said Amal铆 Blanco Boh贸rquez, corporate social responsibility project coordinator for Drummond Ltd.
The launching of the project, which took place in the municipality of La Jagua de Ibirico, Cesar, was attended by the Municipal Mayor’s Office, representatives of public entities, prioritized educational institutions, and the Fundaci贸n Universitaria del 脕rea Andina, which will be in charge of implementing the project.
“We want to extend the invitation to the municipalities of the corridor of life, so that more students can be included to learn English, something that will lead them to have better opportunities in this era of globalization,” said Leonardo Hernandez Cata帽o, mayor of La Jagua de Ibirico.
The implementation of the Bilingualism Skills Strengthening project represents development for these communities in Cesar, who are enthusiastic about the opportunity provided by Drummond Ltd.
“We feel very blessed, as this is a project that will benefit my daughter. Learning a second language is very important and opens many doors,” said Karen Sanchez Bermudez, mother of a participating student.
