Drummond Ltd. continues to ratify its commitment to education in the communities in its mining area of influence. This time, in conjunction with the mayor’s office of El Paso, the company delivered the construction project for the Ángel Martín Flórez Campo building of the Nationalized Educational Institution in El Paso, Cesar. At the event, two school classrooms, an IT classroom, a teacher’s classroom, and a kitchen-dining room were delivered.
“At Drummond we continue to strengthen institutional and community capabilities in the municipalities of the area of influence. With this delivery, Drummond ratifies its commitment to education through projects that provide adequate learning spaces for children,” said Javier Galeano Community and Government Relations Coordinator for Drummond Ltd.
The project, which had an investment of more than 600 million pesos, seeks to improve the learning environment for the children of the municipality of El Paso, Cesar.
“It is a pleasure for us and a blessing from God to have the opportunity to improve the educational infrastructure of our campus. Being a place that houses more than 150 students, this improvement was needed to be able to work in a better way, since it improves the educational quality for the students of our institution,” said Alfonso Ochoa Machuca, dean for the Nationalized Educational Institution.
Thanks to this project, more than 150 students from the preschool level between four and five years of age will benefit. They will now have adequate spaces to receive a quality education, which contributes to the institutional and community strengthening of the municipality.
“We received the campus from the municipal mayor’s office and Drummond. This work allows us to improve the quality of education for our students when they receive their classes. This facility was quite deteriorated, and thanks to their intervention today we have better conditions, quality, and comfort for the entire academic process,” said Dianis Campo Ospino, coordinator of the institution.
Through these important contributions, Drummond Ltd. complies with its Governance for Development pillar, which seeks to strengthen quality spaces that allow the development of institutional and community capabilities in the educational sector in its mining areas of influence.
