La Loma, April 24, 2024

Within the framework of the Socioeconomic Management Plan (PMS) of the Boquerón Population Center and through the CULT 1-16 literacy sub-program, Drummond Ltd., in partnership with the Comfacesar compensation fund, certified 118 young people, adults, and senior citizens.

“What we seek through this pedagogical exercise is for the beneficiaries to participate in a meaningful way in daily, personal, family, and community processes, improving their self- esteem and civic contributions. In the community of Boquerón there are very valuable human beings who have enhanced their social contribution through the skills they have acquired. The participant’s commitment during this year of attending the learning spaces has been fundamental in achieving the goal of leaving illiteracy behind in Boquerón,” stated Wisam Faraj Obregón, senior resettlement supervisor for Drummond Ltd.

Through the program, participants acquired knowledge in basic skills, allowing them to advance in reading, writing, and math skills.

“We have seen the evolution and learning of the participants, as evidenced during the closing event, where they presented poems and told their experiences in mathematics, which showed the results achieved. This allows us to affirm with confidence that we have achieved our main objective: to teach how to read and write,” said Wilber Mejía Navarro, Comfacesar’s coordinator of projects and agreements.

The program was carried out through socialization sessions with the community, during which a targeting and characterization process was implemented to ensure that participants met the requirements of the project’s Cycle 1.

“I want to thank Drummond because they have chosen us at a beautiful moment in our lives. I really appreciate the effort they made to come to my home to facilitate this learning process,” said Clementina Mendoza Estrada, a participant in the Literacy Program.

With these actions, Drummond Ltd. continues to demonstrate its commitment to improve the educational capabilities of the communities near its area of influence.
