In order to promote and strengthen the quality of education in its communities, Drummond Ltd., together with the La Jagua de Ibirico Mayor’s Office, delivered the project to improve the kitchen-dining room of the La Palmita Technical Educational Institution, located in the village of La Palmita.
“Drummond Ltd. continues to make significant contributions in the educational sector for the benefit of the communities in the area of influence. Thanks to this important project, we have had a great impact on the township, considering that today the children of the institution will have more optimal spaces to eat their meals,” said Javier Galeano, Community Relations and Government Coordinator of Drummond Ltd.
The project, which was executed over a period of three months, involved an investment of more than 200 million pesos. The intervention included the maintenance and replacement of the roof, enclosure with plasma-type sheeting and shutters, construction of an access ramp, and general finishes.
“We thank Drummond for this work. It is something very positive for our community because the institution’s dining room was not in operation and today we see this impact where the students will benefit,” said Rafael Rodriguez, president of the community action board of the village.
With this renovation, 834 students from the La Palmita Technical Educational Institution have benefited from this project. In this way, Drummond Ltd. seeks to reduce inequality in educational infrastructure, contributing to the institutional and community strengthening of its mining areas of influence.
“We would like to express our sincere appreciation for the improvement of our institution’s restaurant. Their support has been instrumental in enhancing the educational experience for all of us. Thank you Drummond, because you have contributed to having a dignified education,” said Julia Moreno, a student at the institution.
Through these contributions, Drummond Ltd. continues to demonstrate its social responsibility within the framework of its Governance for Development pillar, which seeks to strengthen quality spaces that allow for the development of institutional and community capacity in the education sector.
