On Women’s Month, Drummond Energy, Inc. in alliance with the Mayor’s Office of La Jagua de Ibirico, developed the “II Panel Discussion: Challenges and Opportunities for the Role of Cesar’s Women in Climate Change Adaptation”, in which valuable knowledge and experiences were transmitted that made them feel empowered and capable of meeting the environmental challenges that arise in their communities.
“This is our second Panel Discussion with the women of La Jagua de Ibirico, a space for construction, where we talk about and highlight the importance of the role and leadership of women in a topic that is of interest to everyone: the implementation of actions to adapt to climate change, allowing our communities to be more resilient and less vulnerable,” said Monica Escand贸n Rodriguez, HSE and Communities Director of Drummond Energy.
The event was aimed at women from the rural and urban areas of this municipality, who were committed to demonstrating their leadership skills and ensuring the protection of the environment in the area where they live, in addition to proposing ideas so that these initiatives can continue to be conducted effectively in the municipality.
“I am very grateful to Drummond for the space, where through a panel discussion I was able to share my story as an entrepreneur, as a woman who contributes to change. I also wanted to show my support to other women. These spaces are very important for us to get to know each other and articulate small actions that will help our society continue to grow and empower us more every day,” said Ver贸nica Zuleta Vega, manager of Chocomine S.A.S., an enterprise promoted by Drummond Ltd.
For her part, Marta Rojas, secretary of women and social inclusion of La Jagua de Ibirico, stated: “This panel discussion has been a learning space with many experiences. It is very interesting to listen to all these women from rural and urban areas, to learn about their needs and the knowledge they can bring to transform the municipality and society”.
The closing of the event was enlivened with a dance by the Coyaima Cultural Group from La Jagua de Ibirico.
With these initiatives, Drummond Energy Inc. demonstrates that its operations contribute to the sustainable development and well-being of the communities in its area of influence.
