Drummond Ltd. improves educational conditions in Magdalena

*Around 1.600 students benefit with the Air Conditioning Project, offering children and young adults a more adequate classroom environment in the municipality of Ciénaga.

Through the Air Conditioning Project that will benefit students from Infotep and the Alfredo Correa de Andráis Educational Institution, located in Ciénaga Magdalena, Drummond Ltd. aims to achieve Sustainable Development Goal number 4 (Quality Education).

In the case of the Higher Educational Institution (IES) Infotep, the company benefits around a thousand students with the installation of 36 air conditioners, which were distributed in the 12 recently enabled classrooms of the Costa Verde Campus, facilitating study conditions and learning, by improving the concentration and performance of university students and teachers.

“The relationship with the company has allowed, in the first place, linking a significant number of practitioners from our academic programs to the company’s productive activities. Today we materialize the contributions that the company makes to the adaptation of academic environments through these air conditioners that undoubtedly contribute to having optimal conditions for learning,” said Leonardo Pérez Suescún, dean for the IES Infotep.

On the other hand, Álvaro Daza, senior supervisor of Community Relations at Drummond Ltd., in Magdalena, said: “They are in a privileged space. What we have to do is continue to strengthen it through all these programs, through all these important alliances that allow students to have an adequate learning environment”.

The commitment continues with the I.E. Alfredo Correa de Andréis

The air conditioning project will also benefit more than 600 children and young people from Ciénaga who are studying at the Alfredo Correa de Andráis Educational Institution, being favorable for the academic performance of the students, by having adequate classrooms to promote their concentration and training.

Once the air conditioning project was made official, Elkin David Hernández Ramírez, a fourth grade student at the institution, stated: “We could no longer tolerate the heat. I thank those from Drummond for the air conditioners; I thank them because they are alive and because they are health”.

It should be noted that the air conditioning project is complementary to the transfer and opening of the current headquarters of the I.E. Alfredo Correa de Andráis, which was conducted in 2021, when Drummond Ltd., in alliance with the mayor’s office at the time, carried out the repair, adaptation, and provision of the institution.

On that occasion, the transfer of the I.E. Alfredo Correa de Andráis allowed its former headquarters to be given on loan to the National Institute of Professional Technical Training –INFOTEP–, to guarantee the students of the municipality access to higher education.

“I want to thank Drummond for the alliance it has made with us, where we have been benefited with an air conditioning project. Not only that but also the infrastructure we had was not the most appropriate. It had many problems and with this company’s intervention, together with the alliance of the mayor of Ciénaga, it was possible to recover this physical plant and for all the students of our educational community to enjoy these benefits,” said Ana Milena García Hernández, Coordinator of the I.E. Alfredo Correa de Andrés

With these actions, Drummond Ltd. ratifies its social responsibility and through the Integral Development pillar, its commitment to quality education in the communities where it operates.
