“We are helping to reduce the inequality gap in school infrastructure between urban and rural areas, not only here in Codazzi, but in all the municipalities in the area of influence of Cesar and Magdalena. Since the beginning of our operations at Drummond, our main focus has been on the education sector, which is the basis for a society’s development,” said Yilda Tatiana Pineda, senior community relations supervisor at Drummond Ltd.

The dedication of the project included the construction of two new classrooms, provision of school furniture and improvements to existing infrastructure: bathroom fixtures, kitchen-cafeteria, computer room and fencing.

“Drummond’s actions are important because they benefit the children and the community above all. We are grateful for all the beautiful work they have done in our village, both in terms of roads and infrastructure. Now this school is very well equipped,” said Nurys Chica, president of the Begoña district’s Community Action Board.

In this way, Drummond confirms its commitment to social responsibility within the framework of its Governance for Development pillar, through which it strengthens community and institutional spaces in its areas of influence in the mining corridor.
