As part of its efforts to contribute to sustainability in its area of influence, Drummond Ltd. lead the event “Building a Sustainable Future: Issues and Challenges”, developed in Valledupar and Santa Marta, in partnership with the Fundación Universitaria del Área Andina and the Universidad Sergio Arboleda, respectively.
“It is in Drummond’s interest to place these conversations around sustainable development on the local and regional agenda, to learn, analyze, and evaluate how we are integrating these good sustainable practices from the personal, professional, academic, corporate, and community aspects of the territory”, said Juan Pablo Arteaga, Vice President of Sustainability at Drummond Ltd.
The talks included the presence of representatives from the public and private sectors, academia, entrepreneurs from the departments of Cesar and Magdalena supported by the Company, and beneficiaries of the Drummond Scholarship Program, who shared their knowledge and experiences to achieve sustainable territories.
“I am very happy to have participated as speaker in this event, where through our company’s history we were able to tell how we contribute to the sustainability of the department of Cesar, thanks to the support we have received from Drummond”, expressed Verónica Zuleta, entrepreneur and speaker at the event in Cesar.
On the other hand, Ivonne Miranda, beneficiary of the Drummond Scholarship Program in 2012 and currently an employee in the company’s legal department, highlighted during the conversation that: “To expose the example of a company such as this one leads us to think that sustainability is not really a concept, it is a reality, it is an action, it is a start, and that we should all be thinking about it from this very moment so that we can, without any doubt, ensure the quality of life of those coming after us”.
The intention of these academic and integration spaces lead by Drummond Ltd. is to promote awareness and actions in relation to sustainability, from the different players that make up society, as well as speaking about the economic, social, and environmental future we want to build for a more sustainable Cesar and Magdalena.
During the development of the conversations, a fair to promote the different entrepreneurial ventures supported by Drummond Ltd. also took place under the Incubation and Business Development Model – MIDE (for its initials in Spanish), ratifying in this way the company’s commitment to contribute to the development of the Cesar and Magdalena departments.
