As part of its commitment to sharing information about its responsible environmental practices, Drummond Ltd. talked about its environmental monitoring and protection of biodiversity during the ExpoTerra 2023 educational and environmental fair, organized by the Secretary of the Environment of the Department of Cesar in the city of Valledupar in commemoration of Earth Day.
“We attended the educational and environmental fair, ExpoTerra 2023, held in Valledupar, and we had an opportunity to share information about the company’s actions in favor of environmental sustainability. We had two stands where we showcased the air quality monitoring and plant and wildlife management activities in our operations,” said Alexander Contreras, senior supervisor of environmental monitoring at Drummond Ltd. The George Dahl Hydrobiological Foundation and the contractor Induanalisis supported us at the event.
The fair, which was open to the public, attracted a large number of students from schools and colleges in the capital city of Cesar, who were able to expand their knowledge through the various presentations and displays.
“As one of Drummond’s contractors, we were there at ExpoTerra. We were able to share how we operate the monitoring network of the mining company’s industrial air quality surveillance system with the students and other participants who visited the stand,” said Leonardo Rojas, coordinator of the monitoring done by the contractor Induanalisis.
On the other hand, the George Dahl Hydrobiological Foundation, which works in favor of the development and conservation of wildlife species in the Colombian Caribbean, brought the exhibit ‘Bats, guardians of the night,’ to the fair to share knowledge about one of the species present at Drummond’s mining operations. It also shared information with visitors about all of the company’s efforts to protect the existing flora and fauna.
