Ratifying its commitment to continue contributing to the improvement in the quality of life of the communities in its area if influence, Drummond Ltd., is achieving the dream of more than 240 families of having their own house, in the municipalities of La Jagua de Ibirico and Chiriguaná, through this high-impact project.
“Today, we formally start this high-impact project that was agreed to in the mining exploration and exploitation contract of La Loma, subscribed with the National Mining Agency. For the execution of this project, we have a constructive path, and we have the support of the mayor’s offices and the citizen oversights of La Jagua de Ibirico and Chiriguaná. This is an investment that is going to allows us to deliver a house to more than 240 families in Cesar”, was the comment by Alfredo Araujo, Vice-president of Community and Government Relations for Drummond Ltd.
The housing units will have 64 m2, with three bedrooms, living and dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and top quality finishes.
“The houses that will be started have an architectural and structural design that is well-defined, since Drummond likes to work based on safety. The beneficiaries have expressed that they feel good and satisfied, not only about the houses that will be built, but also due to the assistance that Drummond has been offering through its personnel”, expressed Fausto Cotes, Manager for Cotes Infraestructura S.A.S., company in charge of the construction of the houses.
“I am very happy and thankful to Drummond because they are helping me build my house. May God bless them wherever they go”, were the words of appreciation expressed by Manuel de Jesús Reyes, a beneficiary of the project in the township of Rincón Hondo.
The project, which was put together with the mayor’s offices of La Jagua de Ibirico and Chiriguaná, seeks to reduce poverty, the quantitative deficit in housing, and reduce the basic unsatisfied needs, especially in rural areas.
“We celebrate the beginning of this great high-impact project that is the construction of the first stage with 79 houses, where 53 families from La Palmita and 26 from La Victoria de San Isidro will be the beneficiaries. The most important thing is that by delivering these houses we are changing these families’ lives. To be able to build houses, transform lives, is what we really are looking for with this project. Thanks to Drummond for helping these families”, expressed Ovelio Jiménez, mayor for the municipality of La Jagua de Ibirico.
The construction process of the first stage of these houses will be completed this year, and with it, Drummond will contribute to the compliance of the United Nations Sustainable Development Objectives number 1 and 11, which is eradicating poverty and contributing to more sustainable communities.
