With the goal of continuing to strengthen community and institutional capacity in the educational sector, Drummond Ltd., in partnership with the El Paso municipal Mayor, delivered refurbished infrastructure for the El Paso School, Angel Martin Florez Campo campus.
The project included refurbishing five classrooms, a kiosk, and restrooms, and building a fence around the school. This will give students a better environment for classroom work and learning.
“This work confirms our commitment to improving conditions at schools. We are here in the region to make a contribution to the quality of life of the students in our area of influence,” indicated Yilda Tatiana Pineda, Drummond’s Senior Supervisor of Community Relations.
The Mayor of El Paso, Andry Aragon, attended the ceremony, expressing his appreciation for the work in benefit of more than 120 children in the municipality.
“We would like to thank Drummond. By refurbishing this school, it has made a contribution to education in El Paso, reflecting the company’s interest in continuing to strengthen education,” said Andry Aragon, Mayor of El Paso, Cesar.
Parents and school teachers celebrated the investment in the school by Drummond Ltd., with a value of 331,355,418 Colombian pesos.
“Strengthening early education is important. It allows us to keep our students in the classroom, increasing coverage and reducing school dropout rates. That’s why improving school infrastructure and the learning environment is so important,” said Alfonso Rafael Ochoa, Dean of the El Paso School, Angel Martin Florez Campo campus.
Drummond will continue to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals through its social responsibility strategy – in this case the goals of Quality Education, Reducing Inequality, and Health and Well-being – by helping improve educational spaces in public schools in the region.
